Markets Overview:

UK 100 called to open -40 points at 5944.  Global markets recovered after a large fall towards the close on Wall Street yesterday & an initial fall in Asia during trading was short lived as markets bounced.  This was prompted by fresh fears of a second wave of the Coronavirus after South Korea & Germany both reported a spike in new cases, this paired with Fresh Trade War concerns, after the US warned that fresh legislation could be used to imposed tariffs on China, if it fails to disclose full account of events leading to the global spread of the virus.

Company News:

Premier Oil expects to be cash flow neutral in 2020 given the current oil price backdrop, as they have hedged 30% of its 2020 oil production at $60 a barel. Net debt stood at $1.91bn at the end of April.

Sage Group have said that it was starting to see the broader effects of a sharp economic downturn caused by the coronavirus pandemic, with new customer acquisition in April roughly half the level expected. They reported a +5.7% increase in organic revenue growth to £935m and a +3% rise in organic operating profit to £213m for the six months to end-March.

Taylor Wimpey announce the phased reopening of sales centres and show homes from 22nd May 2020, following updated Government guidance.
