Markets Overview:

UK 100 called to open +40 points points at 5882.  Positive market sentiment this morning is driven by better than expected overnight import numbers from China.  Also news that some businesses will reopen today in Europe as some countries look to loosen lockdown measures.  However in France and the UK it looks likely that there will be an extension.  In Japan we saw the Nikkei up 3.1% during trading to close the session at 19,638, in Hong Kong it was also a positive session, see the Hang Seng up 0.74% to trade at 24,487 and China completed a green sweep in Asia, closing 1.6% higher to trade at 3,815.  Crude oil pulled back again over the weekend however, suggestions that the U.S could join OPEC+ in production cuts, could aid the struggling commodity.

Company News:

AstraZeneca announce that the third phase trial of its top-selling lung cancer drug Tagrisso will be unblinded early after a recommendation from an independent data monitoring committee.

Centrica announce the appointment of Chris O'Shea as Group CEO on a permanent basis with immediate effect.

National Express have scraped their final dividend payment, due to the COVID-19 outbreak. They continue to generate positive EBITDA and cashflow even during the lockdown. Their half year cashflow projection has improved since their Mid March trading statement.

Next are to reopen their online business today along with warehousing and distribution operations.

NMC Health state that Richard Fleming, Mark Firmin and Ben Cairns of Alvarez & Marsal Europe LLP, (joint administrators of NMC Health) announce the formation of a new Board of Directors.
