The UK 100 called to open +15 points at 7744. UK 100 is called to start slightly higher on Thursday, recovering some of its weekly loss, ahead of the Bank of England’s latest interest rate decision at 12pm today. The Bank of England is expected to lift UK interest rates by 25 basis points, but attention will be on whether it guides for more hikes in meetings ahead, or suggests a pause is coming. US stocks ended largely higher on Wednesday, with tech shares getting a boost after the data that showed US inflation is slowing. Nasdaq surged +1%, S&P +0.5% & Dow -0.1%. In Asia Shanghai closed -0.1%, Hong Kong -0.5% & Tokyo -0.1%.
ITV report that their total advertising revenue in Q1 was down 10% as expected, as they stuck to their longer term targets and said its new streaming service ITVX was performing well.
JD Sports Fashion hires Dominic Platt as their new CFO, to join later this year.
John Wood reports Q1 FY23 revenue of $1.45bn and says that their Q1 FY23 adjusted EBITDA is in line with its expectations. Their Q1 FY23 order book is around $5.7bn as they state that their 2023 outlook remains unchanged.
Man Group promotes Robyn Grew to CEO, replacing retiring Luke Ellis.
Rolls-Royce says their performance reflects positive changes due to transformation programme, as they back their FY operating profit guidance of £800m-£1bn.
Vodafone forms partnership with Emirates Telecommunications Group Co for EMEA region.
