The UK 100 is called to open -60 points today at 7612. The UK 100 looks set for a pullback today after a week of pure positivity, this comes after US inflation rates hit 7.5% in January, accelerating at a rate faster than had been expected. US markets struggled yesterday, with the Dow Jones down 526 points (1.5%) at 35,242 and the S&P 500 off 83 points (1.8%) at 4,504. In Asia this morning, Tokyo has avoided the fall this morning, albeit through a market holiday while in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index is down 151 points or 0.6% at 24,772.
British American Tobacco reported a 7% rise in Q4 adjusted revenue to $25.7bn as more people shifted over to e-cigarettes and oral nicotine amid health concerns during the pandemic. They also announced a dividend increase of 1.0% to 217.8p and a £2bn share repurchase programme for 2022.
