Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open -29 points at 7892.  The UK 100 looks set to narrowly fall on the open despite GDP data this morning showing the economy had just avoided a recession in the second half of the year.  In Asia this morning, the Nikkei index closed up 0.3%, while the Shanghai Composite index was down 0.3% and the Hang Seng in Hong Kong shed 2.0%.  In the US, the Dow closed Thursday down 249 points, at 33,670, the Nasdaq Composite lost 121 points to close at 11,790 and the S&P dropped 36 points to end at 4,082. The benchmarks all ended lower after starting the session in the green.

First Abu Dhabi Bank this morning has denied reports that is set to bid for Standard Chartered.

 

 

FirstGroup plc today announces that the Department for Transport have exercised their option to continue the current contractual arrangements for the Group’s South Western Railway train operating company for the full two year extension period, as set out in SWR’s National Rail Contract. The current agreement, which began in May 2021, will now run until 25 May 2025 on the existing terms.

 

 

GSK today has reported that the US FDA grants regular approval for Jemperli for the treatment of patients with recurrent or advanced mismatch repair-deficient endometrial cancer
