Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open -15 points at 7451; Stocks slipped across the Asia Pacific on Monday as investors continued trying to gauge when economic activity might rebound after the hit from the coronavirus. Benchmarks in Hong Kong, Tokyo and Seoul were lower, though moves eased following a report that Apple Inc.’s main manufacturer got a green light to resume some production. The Nikkei dropped 142 points during trading to close at 23,685, it was a simmilar story on the Hang Seng closing down 177 points to trade at 27,223.  The U.S closed out the week with a subdued trading session, seeing the Dow Jones pull off levels approaching all time highs to close down 277 points at 29,102, the S&P also gave up more than half a percent to close at 3,327, the Nasdaq completed this move in the U.S dropping from all time highs to close the day at 9,520.  Oil once again traded above $55 a barrel, whilst gold was the main beneficialry of global concern trading up at $1572.

 

In corporate news this morning:

 

Intu Properties confirms that it is engaged in constructive discussions with shareholders, (including the Peel Group and new investors including Link Real Estate Investment Trust) in relation to a proposed equity raise alongside Intu's full year results at the end of February.

 

NMC Health confirms that it has received highly preliminary approaches from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co and GK Investment Holding Group SA regarding possible offers for the Company.

 

NMC Health cont... also state that the company is in the process of carrying out a legal review in order to verify the total interests that the holdings and interests of Dr. Shetty, Mr Qebaisi and Mr Muhairi have been incorrectly reported historically to the company and the market.

 

Royal Mail have proposed a 3 year pay deal to the Communication Workers Union (CWU) and wants to have detailed talks. This latest attempt is to avoid another strike ballot that the CWU are said to be preparing.
