Markets Overview:

UK 100 called to open +85 points this morning at 6242.  Calls for a positive open come as Asian markets overnight closed very much in the green.  Trading in China saw equities hit 4 month highs and blue chip stocks built on last weeks 7% growth to add a further 3% today and reach their highest levels in 5 years.  It was a similar story in Japan, the Nikkei gained 1.3%, having previously being lagging behind other markets.  Futures on Wall Street are currently around 2% higher as the world largest economy resumes trading today following the Independence day weekend.  Positive sentiment is also driven as banks have urged the UK and the EU to find a solution to two-way access in stock and derivatives trading.  Elsewhere, traditional safe haven gold trades at $1,780.90 an ounce, down $9.10, while Brent crude changes hands for $43.11 a barrel, up 31 cents.
