Investors have a busy week ahead of them. Not only in terms of UK Index companies reporting, but also the agenda for major macro economic data.
My colleague discusses the significance of Monday's China GDP, which can have a impact on Mining shares. We also have to prepare for US and UK Retail Sales - excellent barometers of consumer confidence.
The same is true of US Housing Starts and Permits. More people starting to build or asking for permission? This means consumer optimism.
Thereafter, UK and Eurozone Inflation have potential to shift expectations on interest rate policy. This can have a knock-on for both GBP and EUR. This in turn can affect their respective stock exchanges (e.g. UK Index , DAX).
Lastly, Fed Manufacturing reports (New York, Philly) could help or hinder confidence in the US economy if it offers a loud enough signal about the health of the US economy.
As for companies reporting, are you ready? Do you hold any of the following? Are you looking to buy them?
Will mining giants Rio Tinto, BHP and peer Centamin please investors with their latest production updates? Whatever is contained in their communications could be good or bad news for commodity prices.
Will quarterly results for Burberry, easyJet, Severn Trent and SSE offer positive financial results and an outlook statement which boosts sentiment on the shares?
Housebuilders did well this week thanks to updates from Barratt Developments and Bovis Homes. Will Galliford Try offer more good news for the sector, pushing shares even further?
