Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +37 points at 7739.   The UK 100 looks set to open higher this morning, this comes after a tough session for global markets yesterday, including heavy falls on Wall Street, however Apple provided some better news, beating analysts expectations.  In New York, the Dow Jones tumbled 286.50 points, or 0.9%, to end at 33,127.74. The S&P declined 29.53 points, or 0.7%, to close at 4,061.22 while the Nasdaq fell 58.93 points, or 0.5%, to settle at 11,966.40.  In Asia, markets were mixed with gains in Hong Kong but falls in China.

Halma agrees to acquire wastewater pipelines repairs firm Sewertronics for 31m euros.

 

 

IAG has lifted its 2023 profit forecasts above guidance given in February as demand for travel rebounds ahead of the key summer holiday season and as capacity returns close to pre-pandemic levels. Q1 2023 (which is usually loss making as fewer people travel) IAG posted an operating profit before exception items of 9m euros, well above the 179m euro loss expected by analysts, helped by lower fuel prices.

 

 

InterContinental Hotels CEO Keith Barr is to step down on 30th June and is set to be succeeded by Elie Maalouf, head of Americas. Q1 RevPAR +33% YoY, Americas +18%, EMEAA +64% and China +75%.
