Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +2 points at 7822. UK 100 is set to open flat on Thursday, as investors digest sticky US core inflation and warnings of a recession in the world’s largest economy. Wall Street ended lower with the Dow closing -0.1%, S&P -0.4% and Nasdaq -0.9%. In Asia the Nikkei closed +0.3%, Shanghai -0.3% and Hong Kong -0.7%.

BHP Group state their $6.44bn takeover of Oz Minerals Ltd has inched closer after Oz shareholders approved the offer.

 

Imperial Brands expects their H1 adjusted operating profit to be similar to a year ago.

 

Darktrace reports FY23 revenue of $139.2m, up 28% YoY. They state that their EBITDA margin for Q3 is at or above top end of 16-18.5% guidance. They have upped their expectations for FY23 adjusted EBITDA margin to at or around 19%.

 

PZ Cussons expects their FY23 adjusted pretax profit to be at least in line with market estimates.

 

Tesco have forecast flat profit in its new financial year as it reported a 6.3% fall for 2022-23, hurt by not passing on to consumers the full rise in the cost of inflation it had faced. They reported a retail adjusted operating profit of £2.49bn in the year to Feb 25th, versus guidance of £2.4-2.5bn and the £2.65bn made in 2021-22.

 

XP Power report Q1 revenues of £77.9m, up 26% YoY from £61.8m. Their Q1 orders were £61.2m, down 40% from £102.4m YoY.
