Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +5 points at 7900. UK 100 is set to open higher on Thursday ahead of a eurozone inflation reading at 10am (CPI data). Wall Street ended mixed with the Dow closing marginally higher, S&P +0.5% and Nasdaq +0.7%. In Asia the Nikkei closed -0.1%, Shanghai -0.1% and Hang Seng -0.9%.

GSK: The US health regulator has backed GSK’s respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine. The FDA voted unanimously in favour of the vaccine, saying data from the company’s clinical study showed the shot was effective in preventing lower respiratory tract disease caused by RSV in adults aged 60 and above.

 

Haleon have forecast 4-6% organic revenue growth in 2023.

 

ITV have reported a 12% fall in adjusted operating profit to £717m reflecting investment in its ITVX streaming service and said the short-term outlook for advertising was “challenging”.

 

London Stock Exchange Group reported results slightly above consensus for 2022 and has hailed its integration of data and analytics group Refinitiv as a success. They reported total income of £7.743bn, just above analysts’ consensus of £7.733bn. They reported a basic EPS of 141.8p and a dividend per share of 107p, both above analysts’ forecasts.

 

National Express reports that their pretax loss has widened to £209.9m from £84.9m YoY. Their EBITDA was up 39% to £418.1m YoY as they reinstate their FY dividend of 5p per share.

 

Taylor Wimpey has flagged weaker sales and lower order book this year, reflecting a slowdown in the housing sector amid concerns about the broader economy. Their profit for the year ended Dec 31st grew more than 11% to £923.4m.
