The UK 100 called to open +29 points at 8026. The UK 100 looks set to open higher this morning, once again testing the 8000 level, this comes after a strong showing in Asia this morning and an all green session on Wall Street yesterday, the Dow Jones, closed Wednesday up 39 points or 0.1%, at 34,128, the Nasdaq jumped 110 points or 0.9%, to end at 12,071 and the S&P added 12 points or 0.3%, to 4,148. The small-cap-focused Russell 2000 improved 20 points or 1.1%, to close at 1,960.
Centrica report that their annual profit more than tripled, underpinned by high energy prices and robust volumes from its electricity generation and gas production units. They reported an adjusted operating profit for 2022 of £3.3bn, up from £948m in the previous year.
GSK says publication in the New England Journal reinforces the potential of GSK RSV vaccine, as the vaccine could become available in 2023 pending regulatory decisions in the US and EU.
Indivior swings to a pretax loss of $95m from a profit of $190m YoY.
Moneysupermarket.com report a 2022 pretax profit of £85.2m, up from £70.2m YoY as they keep their annual dividend unchanged at 11.71p.
Standard Chartered’s annual pretax profit rose a lower-than-expected 28% with rising revenue from global interest rate hikes offsetting the impact of credit impairment from bad loans. They reported a statutory pretax profit of $4.3bn for 2022, compared with average analyst forecasts of $4.73bn. They have announced that a new $1bn share buyback would start imminently.
