Markets Overview:

The UK 100 called to open +19 points at 7718.  The UK 100 looks set to continue last weeks strong start to the year, at the open on Monday boosted by strong gains in the US on Friday and hopes that the reopening in China will give a boost to global economic growth.  At Friday's close, US stocks were firmly in the green, with the S&P closed 2.8% higher at 3,895, the Nasdaq was up 2.6% at 10.569 and the Dow also gained 2.1% to close at 33,631 points.

Airtel Africa buys 100MHz of spectrum in 3500MHz 4G and 5G band for $316.7m, which will allow network expansion and 5G rollout.

 

 

AstraZeneca buys CinCor Pharma for $26 per share to strengthen their cardiorenal pipeline. They state that the upfront cash portion of consideration represents value of $1.31bn, with a maximum cost of $1.8bn.

 

 

Vodafone says they have entered into binding terms for the sale of Vodafone Hungary and are set to receive 1.7bn euros in cash for the sale, which will be used to pay down debt.
