Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +25 points this morning at 7045.  The UK 100 looks set to open in the green this morning, in a continuation of yesterdays late rally.  The pound started to recover in trading on Asian markets this morning after the Bank of England and Chancellor attempted to calm market turmoil.  The pound was up $1.078 against the dollar early this morning, following a plunge to a record low of less than $1.04 against the dollar on Monday.

AJ Bell says the FCA has approved Michael Summersgill to become their new CEO from Oct 1st.
 
AstraZeneca's Tezspire drug has been approved in Japan for treatment of severe asthma.
 
Balfour Beatty has been appointed the sole contractor to frameworks worth up to £4bn. The frameworks cover projects across multiple sectors including roads and defence.
Boohoo says their new CFO Shaun McCabe will start on Oct 3rd, succeeding Neil Catto.
Card Factory says expectations for the remainder of FY23 remain unchanged.
DCC are to acquire Dutch solar panel distributor PVO International for an undisclosed sum.
Domino's Pizza Group says Elias Diaz is to replace Dominic Paul as CEO from Oct 10th.
Saga reports an interim pretax loss of £257.5m (2021: £700k profit) as their cost of sales widen to £124.6m (2021: £48.6m). They expect headwinds in H2 to recede and customer demand to rebuild. Their exposure to inflation has been largely offset and they see no impact to customer demand. They expect to report an underlying pretax profit of £20-30m for FY23.
Weir Group are to partner with Swiss Tower Mills Minerals AG on sustainable mining tools. They also state that current market conditions and guidance are unchanged from July update.
