Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open -40 points this morning at 7554.  The UK 100 looks set to open in the red today as inflation looks to be top of the agenda again.  Attention today will be centred on the ECB, with the talk this week about the possibility of its first rate hike in 11 years after eurozone inflation hit a record 8.1% last month.  Oil prices continue to make headlines also. The price of crude rose to almost $124 a barrel overnight with the UAE Oil Minister the latest to warn that high prices are here to stay.  This follows on from a tough session overnight in the states which saw the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped 269.24 points, or 0.81%, to 32,910.90, while the S&P 500 shed 1.08% to close at 4,115.77. The Nasdaq Composite slid 0.73% to finish at 12,086.27.
