The UK 100 is called to open -50 points at 7564. The UK 100 looks set to fall sharply at the open, extending yesterday's losses to start the week. Overnight, the main US share indices all declined, led by the tech-heavy Nasdaq, which fell 2.2%, and with the S&P 500 down 1.7%. Asian markets were mixed on this morning as the World Health Organisation said it is monitoring the COVID-19 situation in China, where officials are battling a severe surge in cases. Japan's Nikkei tumbled 1.83% and South Korea’s Kospi slipped 0.85%. The Shanghai Composite in China gained 0.91% while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index rose 0.24%.
