Markets Overview:

 

The UK 100 is called to open +10 points today at 7547.  The UK's index of blue-chip stocks looks set to claw back a smidgen of yesterday’s heavy losses, despite continued uncertainty over events in Ukraine.  US markets took a significant step back yesterday with the Dow Jones slumping 622 points to 34,312 while the broader-based S&P 500 tumbling 95 points to 4,320.  This morning, in Asia, the Nikkei in Tokyo was off 107 points at 27,126 while in Hong Kong the Hang Seng index was 86 points in the hole at 24,707.

GlaxoSmithKline pauses enrolment and vaccination in trials for vaccine candidate.
 
Kingspan reports a FY pretax profit of 689m euros and plans to reinstate their dividend at 26 cents per share. They also note raw material price increases are continuing into 2022 as they acquire Ondura Group for 550m euros.
 
Natwest reported a leap in annual profit, boosted by the country's economic rebound and the release of cash previously piled up for pandemic bad loans. They reported statutory pretax profits of £4bn for 2021 (2020: £351 loss), in line with average analyst forecasts. They will also pay a 7.5p per share dividend and an on-market share buyback of £750m.
Segro reports a FY21 pretax profit of £4.36bn (2020: £1.46bn).
