Markets Overview:

 

The UK 100 is called to open -70 points today at 7515.  A sharp fall is expected this morning for the UK’s blue-chip index, following the lead from Wall Street late into yesterday session, the Dow Jones slumped 313 points to 34,715 after making a positive start while the S&P fell 50 points to 4,483.  The picture was similar this morning in Asia, with Japan’s Nikkei 231 points weaker at 27,542 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng off 166 points at 24,786.

Close Brothers says their banking loan book increased 3% to £8.69bn (up from £8.44bn in July). They are "mindful" of ongoing uncertainty going into the second half of their financial year.

 

 

Photo-me announces they've received an offer of 75p per share from Tibergest.

 

 

Playtech will not receive an offer from Eddie Jordan's JKO Play Ltd.

 

 

Rio Tinto: Serbia has revoked its lithium exploration licenses over environmental concerns, hurting Rio's ambition to become Europe's largest supplier of the metal used in electric vehicles.

 

 

Royal Dutch Shell completes sale of interest in Deer Park refinery to Pemex for $596m.

 

 

The Restaurant Group expects FY adjusted EBITDA to be at top end of range and they also expect year-end net debt to be less than £180m. They also state that they have traded ahead of market despite restrictions.
