Markets Overview:

 

 

The UK 100 is called to open +45 points today at 7275.  The UK bluechip index looks set to recover some of yesterdays losses on the open today.  The picture was red on Wall Street on Monday, there was a retracement from the record highs struck on Friday as news of the Omicron variant continued to weigh on investors mind, the Dow Jones fell by 319 points, or 0.89%, to close at 35,652, the S&P gave up 0.91% to trade at 4,669, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq dropped 1.39% to end the session at 15,413.  In Asia this morning, China’s Shanghai Composite fell 0.36% while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index slumped 1.14% with shares of recently listed Weibo dropping more than 5%.  The Nikkei in Japan declined 0.62% and South Korea’s Kospi slipped 0.17%.

BT: Patrick Drahi's Altice restates they have no plan to make takeover offer for BT despite raising their stake to 18%.
Ocado has won a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Norwegian robotics company AutoStore Holdings. They report Q4 revenue of £547.8m (2020: £570.1m), as they expect mid-teens dales growth in 2022, amid new capacity. They expect 2021 results to be in line with guidance.
 
Nawest has been fined £265m for failing to prevent the laundering of nearly £400m.
3i Group names Jasi Halai as their new COO effective in May.
