Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open -10 points today at 7280.  A flat to marginally lower open is expected this morning for the UK's major benchmark ahead of todays Federal reserve interest rate decision.  This follows yet another positive session on Wall street yesterday which saw record closing highs for all three major averages for the third consecutive session, as strong company earnings provided a continuation in investor confidence as we head towards year end.  The Dow Jones rose 138.79 points to close at 36,052.63. The S&P 500 added 0.3% to end the day at 4,630.65, while the tech-focused Nasdaq Composite gained 0.3% to 15,649.60.

Anglo American names Duncan Wanblad as group CEO to succeed Mark Cutifani, who will step down in April after 9 years at the company's helm.
Next reported a 17% rise in Q3 full price sales compared to 2019 before the pandemic disrupted trading and maintained its FY guidance.
Pets at Home forecasts FY underlying pretax profit to be at the top end of £128-135m range.
 
Trainline reports that H1 net ticket sales are up to £1bn (2020: £358m) as revenue rises to £78m (2020: £31m).
