The UK 100 is called to open -6 points today at 7271. A modestly lower open is expected today ahead of chancellor Rishi Sunak’s third Budget, sentiment is still seemly strong however after yesterday’s new 20-month high. Stocks in Asia this morning were broadly lower after Australian core inflation sped to its fastest annual pace since 2015 in the September quarter. China’s Shanghai Composite dropped 1% while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index slumped 1.55% In Japan, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.19% and South Korea’s Kospi declined 0.80%.
