Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +33 points today at 7141.  Calls for a positive open comes as traders prepare for the last trading session of this quarter.  US benchmarks saw a mixed close to Wednesday, with the Dow Jones ending the trading session higher by 90 points or 0.26% at 34,390.  The S&P 500 was up 0.16% at 4,359, however the Nasdaq closed lower, down 0.24% at 14,512. The small cap centred Russell 2,000 also finished Wednesday lower at 2,225.  In Asia this morning, Japan’s Nikkei was up modestly higher at 29,545 whilst Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was a marginally lower at 29,541. China's Shanghai composite was 0.75% stronger at the end of the session to trade at 3,562.

Boohoo expects FY sales growth of 20-25% and implies H2 sales growth of 20-30% as they report a H1 FY22 pretax profit of £24.6m (2021: £68.1m). They also declared no dividend, which was unchanged.
Diageo reports strong start to FY22 with organic net sales momentum across all regions as Europe is recovering ahead of expectations.
FirstGroup gets initial funding grant of $84.6m for US transport services scheme.
