Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +30 today at 7168.  A quiet start is expected this morning for the UK blue hip index, as traders continue to digest Fridays UK jobs data which missed expectation by 500,000 jobs, however an upward revision in June and July report, which helped bring the unemployment rate down to a pre pandemic low of 5.2%. Asian markets have started the week on the front foot with the Nikkei continuing its big rise on Friday with another positive session, adding 1.7% during this mornings session. US markets are closed today for the labour day holiday, Friday saw The Dow drop 74 points, or 0.21%, to close at 35,369.09, while the S&P edged lower by 0.03% to settle at 4,535.43. Tech stocks helped to lift the Nasdaq, adding 0.21% to end the week at 15,363.52.

Dechra Pharmaceuticals reports a FY pretax profit of £74m (2020: £40.9m) and a total FY dividend of 40.5p. They state that trading remains strong at start of FY22 and they are confident in their ability to execute their strategy in the new FY.

IAG: British Airways are considering setting up a new independent subsidiary for its short-haul operations at London's Gatwick airport.
