Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open up 8 points today at 7174. Asian markets slipped on fears of further spread of the coronoavirus, where the delta variant is spreading quickly raising fears about local restrictions, which dampened the lead from the record close on the Dow. The $ and US yields extended gains on Fed tapering talk. Markets ended the day in Europe and the US in positive territory yesterday, as a US $1 trillion infrastructure bill cleared the Senate and heads to Congress later this year. The Dow and S&P 500 hit all time highs, but the Nasdaq fell as economically sensitive stocks pushed the Dow higher and investors moved out of tech. Key inflation data today could help decide whether tighter US Monetary policy could be ushered in. Oil eased slightly in Asia on concerns about slower demand from China, but held 2% gains made on Tuesday.
