Markets Overview:

The UK 100 is called to open +22 points today at 7037.  Asian markets however were broadly down as profit-taking in Taiwanese chip-maker TSMC weighed on other tech stocks. Fed chairman Jerome Powell reiterated that the US Central bank would pledge "powerful support" to the economy amid rising inflation. Elsewhere, the delta variant of the coronavirus continues to rage in countries with limited vaccinations, and has hampered travel stocks across the board, and has hurt investor sentiment and confidence, with most markets starting trading sessions recently on the back foot. Gold hit a one month high at $1831.3 per ounce whilst oil prices stayed under pressure after a compromise deal between OPEC leaders and a poor weekly reading on US fuel demand. US Crude finished at $71.70 per barrel and US Crude at $73.54 per barrel.
