Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 is called to open +10 points this morning at 7084.  Calls for a marginally higher open today come as investors await the outcome of today's Bank of England interest rate decision.  Oil prices rose again through the night, breaking through the $75 mark.  Stateside yesterday delivered a mixed session, the Dow Jones fell 71 points or 0.21% to close at 33,874. The S&P similarly dipped 0.11% to end the session at 4,241 whilst the Nasdaq managed a positive finish, rising 0.13% to 14,271. In Asia overnight, it was an equally mixed session, Japan’s Nikkei was marginally lower at 28,862 whilst Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was 0.13% higher at 28,854. The Shanghai Composite was down 0.12% at 3,561.

AstraZeneca Lynparza tripled radiographic progression-free survival in trial.

 

Bunzl expects their H1 revenue to be up +1%, driven by a strong recovery in their base business. FY21 guidance unchanged, but to be "moderately" higher at constant rates.

 

Crest Nicholson reported a swing to HY profit, benefiting from higher demand as buyers took advantage of government incentives and sought bigger houses suited to remote working. Pretax profit came in at £36.3m (2020: £51.2m loss).

 

Fresnillo announces that their new Juanicipio mine construction is on track to be operational by 4Q 2021. They called 2020 a "strong year" with revenue of over £2.6bn, up almost 15%.

 

Wood Group have forecast a 21% drop in H1 revenue as the engineering and consultancy company received smaller contracts due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. They expected revenue on a like-for-like basis to be $3.2bn for 6 months ending June 30th.
