Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 is called to flat this morning at 7090.  A flat opening call this morning, follows on from positive performance for US markets overnight, with the Dow Jones closing up 0.2% at 33,945 while the S&P 500 climbed 0.51% to 4,246 and the Nasdaq was the stand out performer rising by 0.79% to 14,253.  Things were looking more mixed in Asia this morning, with Japan’s Nikkei down 0.02% while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was 1.45% higher.  In focus today will be flash PMI readings from both eh UK & the US.

Anglo American's De Beers 5th sales cycle value came in at $470m, up from $385m in the 4th cycle.

 

AstraZeneca's Orpathys drug has been approved in China for lung cancer patients.

 

Berkeley Group reported a rise in annual profit spurred by demand for new homes due to supportive measures during the COVID-19 pandemic. FY pretax profit came in at £518.1m (2020: £503.7m profit).
