Markets Overview:

UK 100 is called to open -20 points this morning at 6716.  Calls for a negative open this morning come in spite of an increase of demand for UK bonds since the Brexit trade agreement from international investors.  UK GDP data today showed the UK economy shrank by 2.9% in January, better than the expected 4.9% contraction.  It was broadly a positive session stateside yesterday, the Dow Jones climbed by 189 points to close at 32,486 and the S&P 500 rose by 41 points to 3,939.  However, the picture has been more mixed this morning in Asia, where Japan’s Nikkei 225 has fallen by 467 points to trade at 29,679 while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is 166 points lower at 29,220.
