UK 100 called to open +25 points this morning at 6515. A firmed start is expected today on the back of another solid session yesterday for the UK blue chip index. In the US yesterday The Dow Jones index rose 86 points to 29,970 but the broader-based S&P 500 dipped a couple of points to 3,667. In Asia overnight, markets were also mixed. Japan’s Nikkei 225 closed 48 points lower at 26,761 but in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng gained 46 points higher to 26,774. In Focus today will be US non-farm payrolls data.
Land Securities sells 1 and 2 New Ludgate to Sun Venture for £552m.
Associated British Foods says the hit to Primark sales due to COVID-19 this autumn was about £430m, up from a previous forecast of £375m. Group still expects Primark to hit higher full-year 2020-21 sales and profit than 2019-20's £362m.
Berkeley Group Holdings posted a 16.6% fall in first-half profit, as home sales were dented by the pandemic, and said the coming months would be crucial to gauge the impact of new lockdowns and the impending Brexit.
