Markets Overview:

UK 100 called to open Flat points this morning at 6362.   Calls for an flat open come amid uncertainty over trade deal negotiations between the UK and EU.   Michel Barnier was expected to travel to London today but is reportedly having second thoughts.  This paired with no lead from the US, where the markets were closed yesterday for Thanksgiving.  In Asia overnight, Japan’s Nikkei 225 has closed out the session 74 points higher at 26,611 but in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng is essentially unchanged at 26,820.

Company News:

AstraZeneca are likely to run an additional global trial to assess the efficacy of its COVID-19 vaccine using a lower dosage. They have also asked the medicine regulator to assess their vaccine candidate for temporary supply, a step towards beginning a roll-out before the end of the year.

Capita says they have entered into exclusive talks with Montagu over potential sale of its Education Software Solutions business.

JD Wetherspoon says that 366 of their pubs remain closed.

Reach reported that overall group performance exceeded market expectations, with continued strong digital revenue growth of 16.2% for the 5 months to Nov 2020.
