Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open +32 points this morning at 6383.  The UK 100 is set to start the week positively today with modest gains as the City awaits the details of Boris Johnson’s plans to end the current lockdown & The PM’s stance on the Brexit trade negotiations will also be key to share prices amid speculation that he is to become far more involved.  Stocks in the Asia-Pacific region overnight were mixed on Monday as investors continue to monitor coronavirus, Chinese stocks were higher with the Shanghai composite rising 1.13% but Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index declined 0.08%.

 

Company News:

AA has received a proposal from Towerbrook Capital Partners and Warburg Pincus International regarding a possible cash offer of 35p per share.

AstraZeneca and Oxford University's COVID-19 vaccine has 70% efficacy, large scale trial shows.

Aviva have agreed to sell its stake in Italian life insurer Aviva Vita to joint venture partner UBI Banca for 400m euros in cash.

Cineworld said its lenders have agreed to waive its debt covenants until June 2022 and the company have secured $450m in new loans to ride out the coronavirus crisis.
