UK 100 called to open +40 points this morning at 6040. Calls for a positive open come after a mixed session yesterday and in anticipation of BoE governor, Andrew Bailey's speech today. During yesterdays trading in the US, the Dow Jones closed the day in the green adding 160.35 points, or 0.6%, to close at 28,492.27. During the session the Dow hit a point intra day which eradicated 2020 losses, before given back some of its gains towards the close. The S&P also advanced 0.2% to 3,484.55. The Nasdaq however fell 0.3% to 11,625.34. Shares fluctuated during the session as the Federal Reserve unveiled a new plan which could keep interest rates lower for a longer period of time.
Essentra reports that HY 2020 adjusted operating profit fell 26.4% to £23.9m and that the HY 2020 interim dividend has been cancelled.
Greggs announced that their depot in Leeds has been forced to close after a coronavirus outbreak.
Royal Dutch Shell has said there was only minimal operational impact at its Texas facility due to Hurricane Laura.
