Markets Overview:

UK 100 called to open +30 points this morning at 6135.  Calls for a positive open come after strong performances overnight from US and Asian markets amid fresh US/China trade deal talks and coronavirus vaccine hope. Trading in the US on Monday saw the Dow Jones added 378.13 points, or 1.35%, to close at 28,308.46. The S&P also gained 1% to 3431.28, closing above 3400 for the first time ever. The Nasdaq completed the green sweep with a 0.6% gain to end the day at 11,379.72. A combination of optimism around coronavirus treatments and vaccines and even more gains in Apple drove the S&P 500 and Nasdaq to strike fresh record levels.

Company News:

AstraZeneca confirms that a Phase I clinical trial has been initiated for monoclonal antibody combination for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.
AVEVA Group announces the acquisition of OSIsoft (industrial data software and services company) for a value of $5bn.
DFS Furniture report that they've continued to trade strongly both online and in their showrooms with y-o-y order intake growth over the last 6 weeks that is equivalent to around £70m of revenues. This trading is significantly ahead of expectations due to customers spending more on their homes relative to other sectors and the latent demand caused by lockdown.
