Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open +30 points this morning at 6254.  This comes on the back of yesterdays news that the bank of England were adding another £100bn into the stimulus package.  This paired with positive retail sales data this morning, seeing sales up 6.3% more than expected MoM and down 4% less than expected year on year.  US equities were mixed on Thursday with the Dow Jones down 40 points at 26,080 and the S&P 500 up a couple of points at 3,115.  InAsian markets overnight, it was also mixed, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 up 139 points at 23,495 and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index down 17 points at 24,448.  Brent crude trades at $41.83 a barrel, up 32 cents, while gold trades at $1,735.70 an ounce, up US$4.60

 

Company News:

 

John Wood Group sees H1 like-for-like revenues to be down around 11%. They have completed actions required to deliver overhead cost savings of over $200m for FY 2020.

 

Prudential have sold a minority stake in its U.S. business, Jackson, to Athene Holding for $500m.

 

Staffline notes the recent movement in the company's share price and confirms it is not aware of any reason for the price movement.
