Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open +140 points points at 5555.  In focus today will be the race to get a deal done on oil production between Saudi Arabia, Russia & OPEC members, an emergency meeting planned for today has been postponed and will now not happy before Thursday at the earliest.  UK prime Minister Boris Johnson has been hospitalised having failed to recover from all symptoms following his Covid-19 diagnostic just over a week ago.  However European equity markets have rallied this morning after Italy and France reported a slowing in Covid-19 related deaths, Italy reporting its lowest number of deaths for 2 weeks on Sunday.  It was a positive trading session overnight seeing the Nikkei rise by 4.2%, a gain of 756 points to close at 18,576.  It was a positive session in Hong Kong also seeing the Hang Seng gaining 2.22% or 510 points to close at 23,741.  It was more muted in China, seeing the CSI 300 falling 21 points to close at 3,713.  Oil Prices pulled back slightly overnight, but did however continue to gain over the weekend seeing Crude Oil once again trade over $30 per barrel.  Gold continued to trade just over $1625.

 

Company News:

 

GVC Holdings updates that the COVID-19 outbreak will have an impact on EBITDA of around £50m per month. In light of this the board has taken the decision to withdraw the second interim dividend payment due on the 23rd April.

 

NMC Health Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank have applied to Britain's High Court on April 2 to appoint joint administrators for the troubled hospital operator. However, NMC Health state they are trying to have the application withdrawn to avoid administration as they don't believe it is in the best interests of their stakeholders.

 

Rolls Royce have stated it is scrapping its targets and has decided against paying its last dividend, taking steps to shore up its finances as airlines around the world ground planes due to the coronavirus pandemic.
