Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open +40 points at 7586; This on the back of a global stock rally following China policy easing and fresh hopes of a trade deal with the U.S - Chinese banks have had reserves cut by $115bn to spur the economy.  The Nikkei closed at 23,656 (-181 points)The Hang Seng caught more of a bid from the Chinese news, closing at 28,527 (+337 points).  The Dow closed out 2019 at 28,538, however Dow futures are showing 28,624 at time of writing.  The Nasdaq closed at 8,773.  Whilst the S&P closed at 3,230.  Oil prices remained firm over night holding at $67.4 per barrel.  Whilst gold remained at $1520.

 

In corporate news this morning:

 

British American Tobacco & Imperial Brands. Trump has said that his administration would be unveiling a decision shortly on vaping.

 

GlaxoSmithKline are one of a few drugmakers that are planning to hike U.S. list prices on more than 200 drugs this week. 

 

Tullow Oil announces that the Carapa-1 exploration well (drilled on the Kanuku licence offshore Guyana) has encountered approximately four metres of net oil pay based on preliminary readings.
