Markets Overview:

UK 100 called to open +15 this morning at 7555; This on the back of news after UK market hours that Donald Trump was impeached for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress in the House. The president called the impeachment a "political suicide march" for Democrats.  Asian markets dipped in early trading Thursday after the Bank of Japan kept its monetary policy unchanged.  The Nikkei closed at 23,864 (-69 points), The Hang Seng closed at 27,751 (-132 points).  In the U.S we saw mixed trading with the Trump uncertainty, The Dow Jones closed at 28,239 (-27 points)The S&P closed at 3,191 (-1.38 points) The Nasdaq closed at 8,827 (+4 points).  Oil maintained its upward drive overnight, not only holding above $66 per barrel but pushing as high as $66.5.  Gold maintained its $1477 level.

 

In corporate news this morning:

 

Antofagasta has kicked off the environmental permitting process for its $1.7 billion Twin Metals copper, nickel and platinum mining project in the United States after the Trump administration overturned an Obama-era decision to protect a nearby wilderness area.

Crest Nicholson has announced the appointment of Tom Nicholson to the board as Chief Operating Officer from 1st Jan 2020.
