Markets Overview:

 

UK 100 called to open +30 7262; This comes on the back of news that China wants to work out an initial trade pact with the United States and has been trying to avoid a trade war, President Xi Jinping said on Friday, but is not afraid to retaliate when necessary & Chinese revision up of its nominal 2018 gross domestic product (GDP) by 2.1% to 91.93 trillion yuan (10.12 trillion pounds), keeping it on track to achieving its goal of doubling the size of its economy by 2020 from 2010.  This saw Asian trading sessions close the day in the green, the Nikkei closed +0.32% or +74pts, whilst the Hang Seng closed the day 0.29% higher +77pts.  The US was not as buoyant, the Dow Jones closed -0.2%, the S&P -0.16% & the Nasdaq -0.24%.  Oil continued to tick up sitting at $63.7 per barrel.  Gold retraced slightly as risk on sentiment returned, trading at $1469.

 

In corporate news this morning:

 

Land Securities announced that Mark Allen is to be appointed as its next CEO.

 

Hochschild Mining announces 2020 guidance and remains firmly on track to meet its 2019 output guidance of 457,000 gold ounces or 37m silver ounces.
