Markets Overview:

UK Index called to open +20 points at 7170; After this weekends meeting of parliament, the first Saturday sitting for 37 years, Boris Johnson was 16 votes short of passing his Brexit deal. This means we now have a very real possibility of a hard Brexit, however the PM is confident he has the numbers to get his deal through, will propose another vote through Parliament, House Speaker John Bercow may reject this on grounds it's already been considered. During Asian sessions we saw stocks edge higher on fresh hopes of a trade negotiations making headway, the Nikkei closing +65 points and the Hang Seng +72 points. Crude slipped back below the key $60 handle to sit at $59.5 per barrel, whilst gold opens where it closed on Friday $1490. Pound sensitive stocks will be in focus today following the drop in sterling over the weekend (Banks, Airliners, Housebuilders)
