Markets Overview:

UK 100 called to open +15 points at 7200; Positive sentiment from yesterday continued into overnight trading, spurred on by fresh hopes a US - China trade deal could be struck as early as next month.  Trading in the US was equally strong, the Dow adding 350 points during trading and futures already green (meaning in the last two trading sessions the Dow has added 600 points!). This global rally was not exclusively for Western markets, the Nikkei added 259 points (1.2% during trading) once again due to trade agreement talks but also talk of further stimulus.  Oil once again broke through the $61 per barrel key level. The biggest loser (probably as to be expected) was gold giving up nearly $30 from its highs as risk on sentiment became front and centre!

In corporate news this morning:

Premier Foods announce Alex Whitehouse (UK Managing Director) has been appointed as their new CEO effective today.

Grafton Group report H1 revenue +2%, adjusted operating margin +20 bps. Good H1 growth in Netherlands, strong growth in Ireland, operating profit margin ahead in UK in softer market. Expects market uncertainty to continue until Brexit is resolved.
