Standard Chartered PLC (STAN.L) – Is beginning to set up staff and operations, hiring 750 people in Warsaw Poland in the scramble to acquire more European clients in EU and North America, part of an emerging markets push. Closing price 726.00p (Reuters)
William Hill PLC (WMH.L) – The company’s American division CEO stated that there is a rush from sports teams to tie-up with the company now that legal sports speculation is growing in the US. Closing price 308.27p (Reuters)
Majestic Wines PLC (WINEW.L) – Said it turned an £8.3m profit compared to a £1.5m loss, with earnings up 29% and revenue up 2%. Though it expects the U.K. market to remain “tough” and says trading since end-2018 has been harder y-o-y, however, it reiterates full year targets for 2019. Growth in Australia should offset downturn in UK and unproductive work. Closing price 457.24p (Bloomberg)
