BAE Systems Plc (BA.L) - Posted a 13% gain in full-year earnings as U.S. military spending picked up and its planes and weapons were deployed in Syria and Yemen. Underlying earnings rose to £1.91bn from £1.68bn y-o-y and, beating 11 analysts forecast of £1.89bn. Closing price 605.50p (Bloomberg)
Barclays (BARC.L) – Said it was months away from completing restructuring, however it achieved a surprise increase in its core capital ratio, a key measure, though it missed pretax profit expectations of £3.97bn coming in at £3.2bn. British American Tobacco (BATS.L) - Revenue grew 12.6% to £14.75bn helped by Sterling weakness. Organic revenue was up 6.9%, driven by good pricing and slight increase in full-year cigarette and tobacco sales volumes up 0.2% to £665bn in 2016, adding that although it fell 0.8% on an organic basis as more people around the world cut back on smoking. Centrica (CNA.L) – Reported a 4% rise in annual adjusted profit on Thursday, slightly ahead of analyst estimates, and said debt levels could be low enough this year to allow an increase in its dividend. Closing Price 233.70p (Reuters)
Glencore (GLEN.L) – Reported Full year adjusted profit of $1.99bn beating analysts’ forecasts of $1.59bn, successfully reducing net debt by $15.5bn - that's 40% - missing its target of $16.5bn-$17.5bn. Closing price 325.75p (Bloomberg)
Lloyds (LLOY.L) – The UK Government has now cut its stake in Lloyds Banking Group to 3.8%, yesterday the share price climbed over 4.5% on healthy results. Keep an eye out for news regarding other sector peers today. Closing price 69.70p (Reuters)
