Smith & Nephew (SN.L) - Reported trading profit slightly ahead of consensus helped by strong demand for sports medicine in Q4 , giving it confidence on growing revenues in 2016. The company posted trading profit of $1.099bn for 2015, ahead of consensus of $1.079bn. Closing price 1116p. (Reuters)
Astrazeneca (AZN.L) - Expects a low to mid single-digit percentage decline in earnings in 2016 as the arrival of cheap generic copies of cholesterol fighter Crestor offsets growth in sales of new medicines. Q4 Revenues -5% to $6.40bn, hit by earlier drug patent expiries, generating core earnings per share +26% at 94c. Industry analysts had on average forecast quarterly sales of $6.29bn and earnings of 95c. Closing 4412p. (Reuters)
Compass Group (CPG.L) – Posted a 5.9% rise in Q1 group revenue on the back of strong demand for its services in the United States and Europe. It said strong revenue growth in those regions had offset weak commodity related business. Closing price 1174.00p (Reuters)
