Barclays (BARC.L) – Barclays sued by investor over losses from dark pool suit following New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s lawsuit accusing the bank of lying to customers and hiding the role of high-frequency traders to promote its dark pool. Closing price 218.15p. (Bloomberg)
BP (BP.L) – Reported a 34% rise in quarterly profit and said it would pay a dividend of 9.75 cents a share for the quarter ended June 30. Underlying replacement cost profit increased to $3.6bn for Q2 from $2.7bn a year earlier. Closing Price 496.85p (Reuters)
Domino’s Pizza (DOM.L) – First half group profit before tax increased 10.1% to £24.5m (2013: £22.2m). Interim dividend increased by 10.0% to 7.81p per share (2013: 7.10p). Germany continues to be challenging. Closing price 542.50p. (Reuters)
Morrisons (MRW.L) – Named Andrew Higginson, a former finance director at market leader Tesco, as its next chairman, to bring some experience to the struggling grocer. Higginson was most recently the chairman of Poundland, the chairman of retailer N Brown and senior independent director of BSkyB. Closing price 172.30p. (Reuters)
Next (NXT.L) – It now expects a 2014-15 pretax profit of £775-815m (previous guidance of £750-790m) and would represent growth of 11-17% on the £695m made in 2013-14. Total sales rose 10.7%, Store sales rose 7.5%, while Next Directory sales were up 16.2%. Closing Price 6520.00p (Reuters)
